AFRINIC is announcing the call for applications for the 2018 FIRE Africa Innovation Award.  This year, the Awards category is Internet for social inclusionSuccessfully completed IT related projects led by Female entrepreneurs focusing on using technology to address specific social or economic challenges faced by women and girls, and these projects still have a potential for growth.

Such entrepreneurs are eligible to apply for the $3000 cash prize at the FIRE Africa Awards sponsored by the IDRC. The Awards ceremony will be at the IGF meeting later this year.
The important dates to note:

  1. Award applications open: 20 April 2018
  2. Grants applications close: 15 May 2018
  3. Selection process: 15 May - 30 June 2018
  4. Announcement of winners: 1 August 2018

  • Resource Members Workshop on 5 May 2018 from 09h00 to 17h00 - Open to any network operator interested in learning about and becoming an AFRINIC Resource Member.
  • Resource Members Workshop on 6 May 2018 from 09h00 to 17h00 - Open to registered contacts, of the Resource Members attending the AIS'18, who are willing to learn about the tools to better manage their Internet Number Resources and adopt the AFRINIC Internet Routing Registry.
  • Face-to-face consultations with an AFRINIC Hostmaster from 7 to 11 May 2018.
