Dear colleagues,
We are aware that a number of members have recently received outreach from an external group known as the Number Resource Society (NRS), inviting participation in online meetings and encouraging the signing of a Power of Attorney (PoA).
We take this opportunity to remind all members to remain vigilant when approached by third parties seeking to represent their interests in AFRINIC matters or requesting the delegation of any rights or responsibilities.
While each member is free to engage with external organisations at their discretion, we strongly encourage you to:
- Carefully review any requests involving the signing of a PoA or similar documents that may assign decision-making authority to another entity.
- Be aware that AFRINIC has no affiliation with NRS or any other party and does not endorse any claims or communications made by them regarding AFRINIC elections, membership fees, or governance.
- Verify any important updates - such as election timelines or procedural changes - through official AFRINIC communications or the office of the Court-appointed Receiver.
Any legal or procedural decisions concerning your membership and resource rights should be made with a full knowledge and understanding of the implications. We are committed to ensuring transparency and will continue to provide timely updates through official channels.
If you have received such communications and have questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out directly to the AFRINIC Secretariat or the Receiver’s office for clarification.
Thank you for your continued attention and your active role in maintaining a secure and collaborative Internet ecosystem for our region.
Kind regards,
G. Dabee
Receiver
