Voters Onboarding in the 2025 AFRINIC Board Election

Published On -

The AFRINIC Board Election will take place on 29th August 2025. AFRINIC has been operating for nearly three years without a functioning board. This is a pivotal moment for the organisation, and an opportunity for you to restore trust, accountability and legitimacy to AFRINIC.

We are pleased to inform you of the onboarding process for voters for the AFRINIC Board Election. Starting today, 28th July 2025, all eligible members in good standing will receive a notification with instructions on how to participate. In line with ensuring a fair election process, every eligible member is entitled to designate ONLY ONE voter. As such, you will:

  1. Receive the Designation Email - sent to registered contacts (Tech-c, Billing-c and Admin-c) of all eligible organisations, inviting the organisation to designate its official voter.

  2. Submit a Signed Designation Form - this form must be signed by a C-level company executive. A valid signature and formal authorisation are required, and a template letter (which you can find here - is provided to assist with this process. Once verified, a confirmation email will be sent to all your organisation’s contacts. This promotes transparency within your organisation.

  3. Be subject to Verification - To uphold the integrity of the election, each designated voter will undergo identity verification, including ID checks and authenticity validation conducted by a trusted third-party service provider.

  4. Be included in the Public e-Voters’ Register – A Provisional Voters Register will be published first on 20 August 2025, allowing resource members to verify their details and raise any valid objections. The Final Voters Register will then be published online 48 hours later, ahead of the election start.

  5. Voting and Live-Streamed Online Election Window - This year, the election will be conducted over one week, with live online streaming at the opening and closing of the voting period to ensure transparency.
